Terms and Conditions
Who can stay:
The cottage can only accommodate one person, or a couple sharing. Sorry but we cannot accept children (under 18's) and we do not accept pets.
Smoking:
There is a strict no smoking policy at all times within the cottage.
Accessibility:
The nature of this old cottage means there are steps and stairs. Two steps and a lip to get in through the front door. A winding 12-step staircase leads to the bedroom, toilet and shower room. Click here for a full and detailed access statement.
Check-in and Check-out:
Guests get access to the cottage from 3.00pm on the first day of the booking. On the final day of the booking guests need to be out of the cottage by 11.00am promptly to allow time to turn it around for the next guests.
Payment and Deposit
A 50% deposit is needed upon booking. If cancelled before one month of the start date the deposit will be refunded in full. Thereafter it will be forfeit unless we manage to re-let.
The balance is payable two weeks before the start date, otherwise the booking will be cancelled and the deposit will not be returned. If the booking is cancelled after this time we will make best efforts to re-let, however if this is not achievable then the full amount is forfeit.
Payment can be made by cheque, PayPal or online bank transfer. We can accept payment by credit card using the PayPal system (you do not need a PayPal account to do this). Details will be provided at the time of booking.
Discounts: No discounts are normally available other than for those arriving by bicycle, or by public transport (in which case ticket proof is required). Very occasional promotional discounts need to have the appropriate code quoted at the time of enquiry.
Parking:
Car: there is on-site, off-road parking for one car (or up to two motorbikes) in the drive. Parking is at the owner's own risk.
Bicycles: are welcome and secure stands are provided (and in the event they are not available then secure shed storage is offered)
Utilities: All reasonable use of electricity, gas (for cooking and heating) and water is included in the price.
Log Burning Stove
If you wish to use the log burning stove please ask and we'll show you how this one works. For those unfamiliar with stoves they are easy to use, but you need to be careful to keep the door shut when not feeding the fire, and to not let the fire get too hot.
We can provide a starter pack for the wood burning stove (at additional cost) but thereafter it is your responsibility to get more. Bags of wood are usually available at the local garage. Do ask.
Bedding and towels etc.
All bed linen, towels and tea-cloths are provided. For longer stays the organic linen and towels will be changed weekly. If you need more frequent changes please ask.
Equipment, crockery and bits
The cottage is very well equipped. We think you will find everything you want. Shout if not. A full inventory can be sent ahead of time if requested. All breakages or losses incurred during your stay will need to be replaced or charged for.
Laundry
The cottage does not have a washing machine. However there is a good little laundrette service in the village. There is a drying rack under the cottage stairs.
You can also use the washing machine in the main house for a charge of £5.00 per load (including Ecover washing powder)
Garden
Our large organic permaculture garden is something we are proud of, but it is a working garden. You are welcome to explore and use the garden, but you might well have others working nearby.
Descriptions
We have tried out best to make the descriptions on this website accurate as of the time of writing. Of course things change and we are always looking to improve things. If anything substantive should change then we will let you know at the time of booking.
If you have a problem:
If at any time you have a problem we ask that you raise it there and then, a certainly before you leave. We will make every reasonable effort to resolve the problem.
