COVID-19 - Special Measures
The years of 2020/21/22 were a difficult, if not harrowing, few years for many. Now restrictions are lifted, we wanted to reassure guests, and potential guests, of the key steps we are continuing to take to give everyone confidence in staying here.
- Firstly the obvious - the cottage is wholly detached and standalone. It has no shared spaces, so in many respects it is ideal for a safe stay.
- Booking and cancelling: whilst we still ask for a 50% deposit, and then a balance payment two weeks before the start date, if the government need to reimpose limitations that affect vacationing we will allow cancellation up to 2 days before the start and this would result in a full refund.
- Cleaning: as at the earliest stages of the looming pandemic, we are undergoing a rigorous cleaning schedule with steam cleaning, and anti-viral sanitiser (albeit one with good eco credentials). We are ensuring there are plenty of cleaning products in the cottage for guests to use whilst staying. All linen etc is washed at 60C which kills viruses, and then they are further quarantined for 3-days minimum and often much longer.
- Ourselves: we are mostly working at home. We are double vaccinated and Huw has now had his booster.
- Shopping: all shops are working normally
- Eating out: everything is pretty much back to normal although booking is recommended. Several of the food outlets provide excellent takeaways, ordered and paid for online before either delivering, or allowing safe personal collection. This includes La Rocca for pizza (although at weekends they can be too busy to accept take-way orders), and Spice Cottage or Razoi for Indian meals.
- Things to do: well there are plenty of wonderful walks or cycle rides around the area. We have maps and walking sheets in the cottage, but if you prefer to supply your own the check out Cheddar Walking's website and download what you might need. If you wish to borrow our guest bikes, then we will ensure they are sanitised before you take them, and on return.
